Dear Nina
We’d like your help!
If you are involved with your country’s local APG, may I ask you to
circulate this email to your co-members?
It’s not just planners in the UK who win APG Awards.
Last time, in 2007, we expanded the APG Awards internationally with
great success. Gold, silver and bronze Awards (and several Special
Prizes) were won by planners from USA, Romania, Australia, and The
Netherlands. And the prestigious Stephen King Trophy for Strategic
Agency of the Year was earned by Wieden & Kennedy of Amsterdam (jointly
with M&C Saatchi).
We are maintaining the international emphasis. This year (for the first
time) entries from outside the UK are not confined to an “overseas”
category, which means that any paper from any country can compete for
any of the prizes.
The APG Awards will continue to reward strategic thinking that made a
difference in producing outstanding and insightful creative work. This
will remain the primary objective.
However, a difference this year will be that these awards are happening
in the midst of a recession. Therefore we want to draw attention to
another common factor linking the most successful papers over the years:
that truly great thinking does not exist in a bubble, but is rooted in
strong commercial understanding.
Successful papers will therefore demonstrate not just inspiration, but
how this inspiration is logically connected to a client’s business
objectives. To be clear: this is NOT about the effect of the
communication; rather, it is about building a case for HOW it is
intended to be effective.
I hope that you will take part in the 2009 Awards.
For more details about the awards please see our website
http://www.apg.org.uk/awards/2009.
And, if your agency is part of an international network, please contact
your colleagues so that you can look at success in the APG Awards from a
network perspective.
Best wishes
Matt Willifer
